- Staff Survey
Employees can take advantage of the following benefits:
Superannuation Scheme
An optional scheme is open to all part and full-time
employees. The benefits include employer contribution, inflation-proofed
pensions, life assurance, on off payments and family benefits for all
your family. More information on the NHS
pension scheme.
Childcare Vouchers
Childcare Vouchers are available to all staff of the Trust. If you pay for childcare, you will be entitled to apply for Childcare Vouchers. Childcare Vouchers provide you with savings of up to £2,134 per annum based on your individual circumstances. The vouchers can be used to pay for most types of childcare and are non-taxable and exempt from National Insurance contributions.
Trust staff with children who attend a recognised childcare provider (for example, a crèche, nursery or child minder) are able to make a salary sacrifice of up to £50 each per week. This salary sacrifice amount is used to purchase childcare vouchers. The voucher is sent to the employee on or around payday and the employee passes the childcare voucher to their childcare provider to pay for some or all of the childcare costs.
If both parents work for the Trust or another employer who runs a Childcare Voucher scheme, both parents can make savings which can be put towards paying for the childcare.
Sports and Social Clubs
Many of the hospitals serviced by the Trust have sports
and social facilities which are open to staff at discount rates.
Workplaces within the Trust frequently organise social events and sporting
activities. These are publicised through the Trust's weekly newsletter
or in posters on station notice-boards. Staff also take part in
charitable fund raising events, either individually or on a Service-wide
basis. Staff are also eligible to join NHS discount
schemes aimed specifically at NHS employees.
But most of all, the benefits of working for
South Western Ambulance Service is that you join a professional
service with the highest standards and can feel that YOU can make a
difference.
The Trust is working towards equal opportunities and having a workforce which represents the diversity of the people it serves. Due to under representation we particularly welcome job applications from people with a disability and people from minority ethnic groups. The Trust has policies and procedures which ensure that all applicants are treated fairly and consistently at every stage of the recruitment process, including considering reasonable adjustments for people who have disabilities.
