Freedom of Information Act and Publication Scheme
About the Freedom of Information Act 2000The Freedom of Information Act 2000 gives the public a general
right of access to all recorded information held by Public
Authorities. Public Authorities include NHS organisations. What is a Publication SchemeA Publication Scheme provides a signpost to information about a public authority and how it is run, as well as other documents and information it will proactively make available to the public. All public authorities are required to adopt a Publication Scheme under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. The Information Commissioner has now established a standardised Publication Scheme that all public authorities must adopt by 1 January 2009.
