Responder Schemes

Medical Responders (Doctors)

The South Western Ambulance Service enjoys an excellent relationship with other healthcare professionals across the region.

Included in this are a number of GPs who will respond to 999 ambulance emergency calls to offer basic and advanced care to patients. This may include patients suffering traumatic injuries such as prolonged entrapment incidents, but also chest pains and other medical emergencies within their local community.

Some of these doctors are specially trained to act as Medical Commanders in the event of a Major Incident.
